Achieve Your Dream Body With Liposculpture
When you hear the term Liposculpture what comes to mind? For me, it’s a doctor with a hammer and chisel, sculpting a new body for his patient. Well, your doctor isn’t likely to use a hammer and chisel, but there is an artistic element to the procedure. Of course, most of us have heard of liposuction, which is the surgical removal of fat from specific areas of the body.
Liposculpture is a more refined method, using smaller, more precise instruments. This is a gentler procedure, which allows for more detailed contouring of the body. According to the Liposuction and Cosmetic Surgery Institute “Lipotherapy is a program that combines Liposculpture with an individualized nutrition and exercise protocol. Liposculpture is a surgical procedure that removes deposits of excess fat from specific areas of the body. Liposculpture can be used to help people who are significantly overweight to reduce problem areas over the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs.”
Liposculpture removes fat deposits through thin metal tubes or cannulae using tiny entry incisions. Your surgeon uses a special syringe or delicate suction pump to suck fat from the areas to be improved. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia, utilizing an solution under the skin, called the “tumescent technique. If required, a sedative is given to enhance patient comfort. However, many patients are surprised at how painless the procedure is.
To further enhance the sculpting process, your surgeon may perform a procedure called Fat Transfer. Also known as Fat Grafting or Lipo Filling, it involves transferring fat from one area of the body to another. Fat can be removed from one site to another. It can also be removed during liposcupture and frozen for for use in up to six months. Fat tends to be re-absorbed to some degree, so results achieved may or may not be satisfactory in the long term.
The benefits of these procedures are that they are relatively painless, and 70% of results can be seen within the first 48 hours. A marked improvement in shape may be achieved. Possible risks include temporary swelling, bruising and minimal discomfort. Numbness, if it occurs, usually disappears after several months.
Infection is rare, but possible as are allergic reactions to medications. Blood collections in the area of the operation, or watery fluid occur infrequently, but could require removal. Areas of skin loss have been reported, but fortunately, this is even more infrequent. Deep vein thrombosis is a possible complication of any surgery, however, with this procedure it is extremely rare.
There are many benefits to having liposculpture and fat transfer treatments. It is best consult your doctor for further information before making a decision to undertake this, or any procedure. Remember though, that these modern techniques have allowed many people to achieve their dream body. Why not follow their lead?
